The Journey with Hope Africa
I have been working with Hope Africa since 2018 when I took my first trip to Uganda to begin documenting their work. Though the work is largely documentary in its purpose, I chose to focus on artful framing, emotional storytelling, and vivid colors to capture the vibrancy of these families and of their culture.
The evolution of their branding.
In 2021, Hope Africa asked me to update their visual identity. I knew in taking on this project that I wanted the new identity to be tied to Uganda, its landscape, and its people.
The organic, hand drawn typography is inspired by the painted signs and slogans that are commonly painted on homes and business in Uganda.
The color palette was pulled from images we had captured in Eastern Uganda, near one of the schools the sponsored children attend.
